Dear Year 6 Parents/Carers,

RE: Year 6 Trip to Centre of the Cell

As the launch into our new topic: ‘Pump it Up’ (about the heart and circulatory system), Year 6 are going on a trip to the Centre of the Cell at Queen Mary, University of London on Tuesday 11^th November 2025. Here, the children will watch a show called ‘In a Heartbeat’ and have the opportunity to take part in an interactive pod session. We will be leaving school promptly at 09:00, taking the overground from Sydenham Station to Whitechapel. Please ensure that your child is in school by 8.45 am as we are unable to wait for latecomers. We will return by the end of the school day.

Your child must have a packed lunch and a bottle of water unless they are in receipt of free school meals, in which case the school kitchen will provide a packed lunch and a bottle of water – please order these online through the form below by Thursday 23^rd October 2025. Lunch needs to be fully disposable, in a named plastic carrier bag, and should not include any nuts (including Nutella spreads or hazelnut Kinder Bueno), fizzy drinks or chocolate. Your child will need to wear school uniform, school shoes and a waterproof coat.
