Dear Year 5 Parent/Carers,

RE: Y5 Local walk – Wednesday 26^th and Thursday 27^th November 2025

As part of our creative curriculum, Year 5 will be taking a local walk on around several roads in Sydenham to map buildings that were damaged or destroyed during the Second World War.

Violet Class will go on Wednesday 26^th November
Lilac Class and Lavender Class will go on Thursday 27^th November

The children will walk from school to the local area, complete their mapping activity, and then return to school. Year 5 classes will take part at different times throughout their scheduled day, and children will have their lunch at school as usual.

Children will be accompanied by school staff, and on this occasion we will not require any parent helpers.

Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. A warm, waterproof coat is essential, and they may also bring gloves, a hat, and a scarf. We will go ahead with the walk regardless of the weather conditions.

There is no requirement for schools to ask parental permission for trips that take place within the school day. However, if you have any concerns about your child attending this trip, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
