Dear Parent/Carer,
Re: Year 4 Green and Blue Class Swimming Lessons
This term, swimming lessons are being provided for Year 4 Green and Blue pupils at Forest Hill Pool.
This is a great opportunity for children of all abilities to develop their confidence in water and be taught by a qualified swimming instructor. Your child will attend 6 swimming lessons over 3 weeks as part of a bespoke teaching approach. Each swimming lesson is 1 hour long which will give every child the chance to improve their swimming skills. During the first lesson, a qualified swimming instructor will carry out an assessment of each child to ensure that they are placed in a teaching group that matches their skill level.
Year 4 children in Green and Blue class will swim on the following dates:
Monday 23rd February 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Tuesday 24th February 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Monday 2nd March 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Tuesday 3rd March 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Monday 9th March 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Tuesday 10th March 1:00pm – 2:00pm
For every swimming lesson, your child will need to bring appropriate swimwear (not white and no bikinis), a towel, a swimming hat (wearing a swimming hat is compulsory) and a plastic bag for their wet items after the lesson. For hygiene reasons, children should not wear their swimming costumes under their school uniform during the day, and we would appreciate your support in ensuring they are able to change into and out of their swimwear independently. All jewellery should be removed in advance and left at home, and long hair needs to be tied back securely. Children may bring swimming goggles if they would like to use them.
As your child will be swimming 2 days back to back over 3 weeks, please remember to dry your child’s swimming costume and towel each evening or have a second set of swimming kit available.
For each session, staff will walk the children to and from the pool and remain with them during the lesson. Each lesson is from 1.00pm – 2.00pm. Either myself or Mrs Drewe will be attending the sessions with the children to oversee the lessons. There will also be 4 other school adults attending with us. Children will be back well before the end of the school day.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your continued support,
Ms Hicklin
