Dear Parents/Carers of Year 2,
RE: Year 2 Spring 2 Curriculum Letter – Soil, Seeds and Sunshine!
Welcome back to school. We hope that you have all had a wonderful break. Our learning journey topic this term is ‘Soil, Seeds and Sunshine! This is a science-based theme. We will be discovering how seeds and plants grow and describing and carrying out experiments to discover the key ingredients to growing a healthy plant. In English, children will read ‘The Flower’ by John Light and write non-fiction reports and their own version of a story. As part of our Geography curriculum, our learning will focus on the local area by studying maps, atlases and google earth.

We really appreciate your continued support with children’s reading at home. Reading at home with your child every day will enable them to make as much progress as possible before the end of Year 2.

Other Reminders
To help ensure a safe and smooth start to the school day, we kindly ask that you remain with your child in the playground each morning until a member of the Year 2 team comes out to greet the children. This is especially important for those in Cinnamon and Saffron classes. Your support with this is greatly appreciated and helps us keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Project home work:
We would like children to create their own research page on an animal of their choosing. This will support their previous learning from last term where we looked at animals and humans. Your child has already created a fantastic fact file on Wolves. They found information about its diet, habitat and what kind of creature it is. Now they could come back into school with their own information about animal that they are personally really interested in. These can be created as large posters for display. Some examples are as below:

Thank you in advance for your continued support.
