Dear Lilac Class parents and carers,
RE: Young V&A Museum Trip – Tuesday 19th May 2026
As part of this term’s topic, Out of This World, Year 5 will be creating animations in Computing. To support this work, they will visit the Young V&A Museum to explore animation up close through the exhibition ‘Inside Aardman: Wallace & Gromit and Friends’.
The exhibition takes pupils behind the scenes of stop-motion animation, showing how Aardman’s well-known characters are created, from initial sketches through to filming and final effects. It features original models, sets and storyboards, along with interactive elements that allow children to explore and try aspects of the animation process themselves.
Lilac Class will go on: Tuesday 19th May 2026.
There is no cost for this trip.
We will be leaving school promptly at 9:10 am, taking the Overground from Sydenham Station to Whitechapel and then taking a bus to the Young V&A Museum. Please ensure that your child is in school by 8:45 am as we are unable to wait for latecomers. We will return by the end of the school day; however, if there are any delays to our journey, we will inform you by text message.
There is no requirement for schools to ask parental permission for trips that take place within the school day. However, if you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak to your child’s class teacher.
If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed lunch for this trip, you must complete the online form below by Monday 4th May 2026. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food.
Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or NUTS (due to pupil allergies). Lunch needs to be fully disposable and in a named carrier bag.
As we will be going whatever the weather, your child will need to wear school uniform, school shoes and have an appropriate coat.
Thank you for your continued support
Mrs Nandhra-Calow
