Tuesday 2nd June 2026
Dear Year 2 parents and carers,
RE: Year 2, St Paul’s Cathedral Trip – June/July 2026
As part of this term’s topic, Out of The Ashes, Year 2 will be learning about the Great Fire of London. To support this work, they will visit St. Paul’s Cathedral and take part in a Great Fire of London workshop, exploring what happened to the Cathedral during the fire of 1666 and examining evidence that can still be seen today.
Ochre Class will go on: Monday 29th June 2026
Cinnamon Class will go on: Wednesday 1st July 2026.
Saffron Class will go on: Friday 3rd July 2026.
The cost for this trip is £5 per child. Please pay on SCOPAY via TRIPS & EVENTS.
We will be leaving school promptly at 9:10 am, taking the train from Sydenham Station to London Bridge and then walking to St Paul’s Cathedral, making a short stop on the way at Pudding Lane. Please ensure that your child is in school by 8:45 am as we are unable to wait for latecomers.
Due to the timing of the workshops and our travel arrangements, we anticipate returning to school later than the usual end of the school day, at approximately 3:45pm. If there is any delay to our return journey, we will let you know. To enable your child to attend this trip, please sign and return the consent form, confirming both your permission for them to participate and your agreement to collect them from school upon our return. Should there be any delays to our journey, we will keep parents informed throughout the day.
If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed lunch for this trip, you must complete the online form here below by Thursday 11th June 2026. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food.
Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or NUTS (due to pupil allergies). Lunch needs to be fully disposable and in a named carrier bag.
As we will be going whatever the weather, your child will need to wear school uniform, school shoes and have an appropriate coat.
We will need parent helpers on this trip, if you are able to attend please contact the School Office or speak to your child’s class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support,
Year 2 Team
