Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Year 6 Trip to Frylands Wood – Thursday 9th July 2026
On Thursday 9th July, the Year 6 pupils who are not going to France will be going on a school trip to Frylands Wood. This is a scout centre that focuses on outdoor adventure, managed in a way which encourages and enables as many young people as possible to enjoy and experience the benefits of the natural environment.
On the day, the pupils will be engaging in four different activities in small groups led by an instructor. These include climbing, team building, shelter building and archery. Children do not need to wear school uniform but do need to wear comfortable, outdoor clothes and trainers which they do not mind getting dirty. The Centre advises that long hair is tied back and please no jewellery other than stud earrings. This is for safety reasons.
We will be eating a packed lunch at a campsite in the woods. Please make sure your child brings a named water bottle.
There is no cost for this trip. If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed lunch, you must complete the online form below by Monday 22nd June. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food. Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or NUTS (due to pupil allergies). Lunch needs to be fully disposable and in a named carrier bag.
We will be travelling by coach. The school gates will open at 8:30am to allow children to arrive earlier so that we can leave promptly. The coach will depart at 9:00am, so it is very important that children arrive on time, as we will not be able to wait for latecomers. We will aim to leave Frylands Wood at 2:00pm and should be back at school by the end of the school day. If there is any delay to our return journey, the School Office will inform you via text.
If you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak with a member of the Year 6 team.
Thank you,
Miss Horgan
