Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Year 6 Trip to Sedgehill Academy – Wednesday 1st July 2026
As part of the Year 6 Writing Curriculum, the children are currently studying Macbeth by William Shakespeare. To enrich their understanding of Shakespeare’s work and live theatre, we will be visiting Sedgehill Academy on Wednesday 1st July 2026 to watch a live performance of another of his famous tragedies, Julius Caesar.
Sedgehill Academy presents a reimagined version of Julius Caesar, simplified and relocated to the near future. In this adaptation, a disaster has wiped out all adults, leaving children to take over their school and create their own society. Shakespeare’s themes of ambition, friendship and shifting loyalties are explored through this engaging and accessible production.
We will leave school at approximately 9:30am and expect to return by around 1:30pm.
There is no cost for this trip. If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed Friday 19th June 2026. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food. Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or NUTS (including Nutella, due to pupil allergies).
We understand that this trip may coincide with some secondary school induction days. If your child is due to attend their secondary school induction on this date, we completely understand that you may wish to prioritise this important transition event. In this case, please inform the school office as soon as possible if your child will be absent from the trip.
Thank you for your continued support. We are sure the children will enjoy this exciting opportunity to experience live theatre and deepen their understanding of Shakespeare’s work.
If you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak with a member of the Year 6 team.
