Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Hot Temperatures and Sports Days this week
With high temperatures forecast over the next few days, we are reviewing arrangements for some of our planned outdoor activities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children.
As the afternoons are expected to be particularly hot, we are looking to rearrange the Sports Days for Year 1, Green & Blue Class and Year 4. Year 1, Green & Blue and Year 4 Sports Days will not go ahead this week. We will continue to monitor the weather and assess temperatures for next week before confirming any changes. We will inform parents as soon as possible of any revised dates.
To help children stay safe and comfortable in school during the warm weather, please ensure that they:
- Bring a named, refillable water bottle to school every day.
- Have sunscreen applied before arriving at school.
- Bring a hat to wear during any time spent outdoors.
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing, similar to their PE kit (no vests or exposed shoulders), to help keep cool.
We will also be making some adjustments to the school day. Playtimes will be shortened, with children spending brief periods outside for fresh air before returning indoors for games and activities in cooler environments. In addition, PE lessons and other physical activities will either be shortened, moved to cooler parts of the day, or adapted to take place indoors where appropriate.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we take these precautions during the hot weather. Our priority is to ensure that all children remain safe, comfortable and able to enjoy their learning despite the high temperatures.
