Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Y6 Curriculum Meeting and Secondary Transfer Information
We hope that you and your family have had a lovely summer break. We are looking forward to working with all the new the Year 6 students and have a busy and exciting year ahead.
We have arranged a curriculum and secondary transfer information evening for parents and carers of Year 6 pupils on Tuesday 14 September from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in Paxton Hall.
During the first part of the meeting, members of the Year 6 team will share important information and expectations for the upcoming year. This will include:
- An overview of the Year 6 curriculum and the topics we will cover over the year
- Behaviour expectations and mobile phone safety
- Assessment and SATS
- School trips and residentials
Mr Hyde will then join us to discuss the secondary school application process and answer any questions you may have. Selecting a secondary school for your child is a personal decision and there are many different options available to you. Ahead of the meeting, it is important that you start gathering information about the schools you may be interested in by visiting their websites and finding out when their open day events are. These are great opportunities to learn more about each school and we highly recommend attending the open days for any schools you may be considering applying to. Get started by reading the information on our school website here: https://kelvingrove.lewisham.sch.uk/admissions/secondary-transfer/
If you are unable to attend the meeting, a recorded version will be sent out afterwards via text. Please ensure you watch this to not miss out on important information about the year and secondary transfer. If you would like more assistance with the secondary school application process, we will be hosting drop-in workshops later this term where staff can help you with the forms or answer any additional questions.
Many thanks
Year 6 Team
