Headteacher's Message
This theme of communication also tied in with Safer Internet Day, which we marked with discussions on the importance of staying safe online and protecting ourselves from scams. In a world where technology plays such a central role in children’s lives, it’s vital that we remain proactive in understanding the risks they face and supporting them in making safe choices.
Thank you to all parents and carers who have joined us for recent events—PTA fundraisers, coffee mornings, and the wonderful Stay and Craft session with Year 1. These moments continue to strengthen our school community, and we look forward to hosting even more opportunities to connect next term.
Nethercott Farm Year 5
Year 5 had an unforgettable time on their first residential trip to Nethercott Farm—for some, it was even their first time away from family! Over the week, they worked hard in teams, helping out on the farm, tending to the gardens, and caring for the animals. They even got stuck into preparing food for dinner!
It was an amazing experience, full of learning, teamwork, and lasting memories. A huge thank you to the wonderful Nethercott Farm staff for looking after everyone (and keeping them well-fed!) and to our fantastic KG staff who gave up their time to make this trip possible.
Children's Mental Health Week
We had a fantastic week celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week, with every class getting involved in activities to help understand emotions and well-being. Using characters from Inside Out 2, children explored different feelings and why it’s important to experience them all—even the tricky ones! They painted star magnets inspired by the film, creating a lovely display of class emotions.
Children also made badges and rosettes to celebrate their achievements, proudly sharing what they’re most proud of before crafting their rosettes to showcase their best skills.
Through class discussions and circle times, we talked about what good mental health means, how emotions connect, and ways to relax. We also shared ideas on how friends, family, and teachers can help when things feel tough. We’re excited to bring these ideas into class and home to use everyday.
Ovo Nature Prize Winner!
We’re thrilled to announce that our school has won a £200 OVO Foundation Nature Prize! With over 200 applications, the judges found ours truly unique.
As part of our commitment to bringing children closer to nature, we’re creating more green spaces around the school—especially in the playgrounds. This funding will go towards compost, climbing plants for our planters and (soon to be built!) green wall, and underwater plants for the newly planned pond.
A huge thank you to Mr Murray and Mrs Legouix for their support and effort with the application – we can’t wait to bring this project to life!
We are Going Cashless!
After half term, from Monday 24th February 2025, we will no longer accept cash or cheques in school. We ask all parents to only use our e-payment method to pay for trips, activity clubs, childcare etc. This can be done online using a very secure website and app called SCOPAY or in cash at local stores where you see the PayPoint logo.
Safer Internet Day 2025

On Tuesday, we took part in Safer Internet Day, learning all about online scams and how to stay safe. In assembly, we looked at different types of scams and why keeping personal information private is so important.
In class, children had fun spotting fake messages, tricky websites, and scams designed to trick people. They also talked about trusted adults and how to ask for help if something online doesn’t feel right.
By the end of the day, everyone felt more confident about recognising scams and making safer choices online—fantastic work, everyone!
Home Learning
We love recognising the fantastic home learning taking place, and this week, a special shoutout goes to Max in Year 4! Max took his study of the digestive system to the next level by creating an impressive 3D model, carefully constructed from card, painted in detail, and perfectly labelled. Well done, Max—what a brilliant effort!
Year 1 Valentine Crafts
A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us for another successful Year 1 parent craft session. It’s always a joy for the children to welcome you into their classrooms, share their learning, and get creative together! This time, they made beautiful Valentine’s crafts and had a fantastic time. We look forward to the next session after half term! 🎨❤️✨

Please hand in all entries to Miss Gibbs or drop them off to the School Office, we look forward to seeing all your entries! ✨
Lost Property
We can’t emphasise enough how important it is for parents and carers to clearly label children’s school jumpers, jackets, coats, bookbags, water bottles and lunch bags with their name.
This helps us to return any lost and found items quickly to their rightful owner/s.
Please speak to the School Office or Mrs Jupp about lost property. All unnamed lost property will kept for a term, any unclaimed items will be sent to the local charity shop to benefit our wider school community.
Pre-loved school uniform is also available from Kids Support Tree – in addition to our official school uniform provider Wearabouts in Sydenham.
