Headteacher's Message
As we come to the end of the first Summer Term, it is hard to believe just how much we have packed into a relatively short few weeks. Across the school, children have enjoyed a wide range of trips, events and enriching learning opportunities, all of which help bring the curriculum to life and create lasting memories.
A particular well done must go to our Year 6 children, who completed their SATs tests last week. We were incredibly proud of the resilience, determination and maturity they showed throughout the week. They approached each day with a positive attitude and should be very proud of their efforts.
We have also received some wonderful feedback following Year 5’s recent visits to the Young V&A Museum. Staff at the museum were impressed by the children’s knowledge of stop-motion animation, their enthusiastic engagement with the exhibits and the respectful way they explored the gallery spaces. They commented particularly on how well our pupils shared the interactive displays with others and the considerate and inclusive manner in which they represented the school. Feedback such as this is always lovely to receive and reflects the values we work hard to develop across our community.
Looking ahead, we are excited for the final half term of the year. As always, there is plenty to look forward to, including Sports Days, the Summer Fair, Year 6’s residential visit to France and a number of end-of-year celebrations and events. Please continue to check the website and newsletters regularly for key dates and information.
We hope you all enjoy a safe and restful half-term break and look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday 2nd June.
School Council

Our School Council members have been busy planning an exciting Day of Play which will take place at the end of the school year. The children have been discussing ways to make playtimes even more fun, creative, and inclusive for everyone across the school.
As part of this, we are hoping to refresh and expand the play equipment available in the playground, and we would be incredibly grateful for any donations from families that could help support this. We are looking for items that are clean, safe, and in good condition, including:
🪀 Small world toys such as dolls, dinosaurs, toy cars, and trains
🥣 Old kitchen utensils for our mud kitchens
🧸 Cuddly toys for a playground toy zoo
🛴 Scooters
⚽ Sports equipment such as balls, racquets, and skipping ropes
These resources make a huge difference to children’s creativity, teamwork, and enjoyment during playtimes. Thank you in advance for any donations and support; you will help make our Day of Play and everyday playtimes even more special for the children!
Local Visits
Our younger year groups have enjoyed some fantastic local visits this week, making the most of learning beyond the classroom while exploring the local community and environment.
Year 1 classes had a wonderful visit to St Bartholomew’s Church in Sydenham as part of their very first school trip experience. The children were full of excitement from the moment they set off and thoroughly enjoyed exploring inside the church, learning about the building and its features. The lovely sunny weather made the day even more special, and the children represented the school brilliantly throughout the visit.
Year 2 also enjoyed a fantastic trip to Devonshire Road Nature Reserve this week. Building on their learning from the Seeds and Soils topic, the children explored different habitats and identified a range of plants and wildlife in the local environment. They showed great enthusiasm as they became real nature explorers and asked thoughtful questions throughout the day. We were especially proud of their excellent behaviour, sensible listening, and fantastic walking to and from the reserve.

Book Recs!
Our school librarians would love your help in choosing what to stock on our shelves. What books can’t your children put down? Which stories have they loved and would recommend to others?
We’re looking for suggestions of all kinds, favourite novels, popular series, graphic novels, comics, and more!
Please take a moment to complete a book recommendation and share your ideas with us.
Thank you for helping us inspire a love of reading! 📖
Fab Home Learning!
We would like to say a huge congratulations to all of the children for their fantastic home learning this term. It has been wonderful to see so much creativity, effort, and enthusiasm continuing beyond the classroom. From creative projects and artwork to research, writing, and practical activities, the children have truly impressed us with their hard work and imagination. Thank you also to families for your continued support with learning at home, we are so proud of everything the children have achieved!
Adventures with Aardman!

This week, Year 5 enjoyed an exciting visit to the Young V&A Museum, where each class explored the Aardman, Wallace & Gromit and Friends exhibition. The trip linked perfectly with their Computing topic on stop-motion animation and gave the children a fascinating look into the world of animation and film-making.
Throughout the exhibition, the children had the chance to get hands-on with a range of interactive activities. They explored original models and sets from famous Aardman productions, experimented with creating animated sequences, added sound effects to scenes, and discovered how lighting can completely change the mood of a film set. It was an inspiring experience that brought their classroom learning to life in a creative and memorable way.

We were especially proud to hear such positive feedback from the Young V&A staff about all three Year 5 classes. The children were praised for being thoughtful and considerate towards other visitors throughout the museum, and staff were particularly impressed by how kindly some pupils helped younger children use the interactive displays. All three classes represented the school brilliantly, and we were delighted to receive such wonderful reports about their behaviour and attitudes; they were wonderful ambassadors for the school!

Story Club
Every Wednesday and Friday, Miss Hudson hosts a Story Listening Club for Year 6 pupils. Children are invited to relax and enjoy a story together in a calm and welcoming environment, choosing their own comfortable spot to sit and listen.
The club provides a lovely opportunity for pupils to unwind, develop a love of reading, and share the enjoyment of storytelling with their peers. It has become a popular part of the week, with children looking forward to spending time immersed in a good book and letting their imaginations take them on new adventures.

Lego Donations
We’re looking for donations of LEGO to support our SEND resources and provide more creative play opportunities during breaktimes. If you have any spare bricks or complete sets at home that are no longer being used, we would greatly appreciate your contribution. LEGO is a fantastic tool for encouraging creativity, fine motor skills, and collaborative play among our pupils.
Donations can be dropped off at the school office, thank you for your support!
