Headteacher's Message
Recent rain unfortunately left the ground completely swamped in the area we do our sports in. Thank you for your understanding.
We did manage to have our Summer Fair which was a really successful event, both in raising money and bringing our community together. Thank you to all who helped organise and stay late to tidy away.
These last few days continue to be busy in school. Staff are working on reports and transition to next year. This past week children met their new class teachers and visited their classrooms for the next academic year. You will have received letters confirming classes Friday.
I have met with all teachers over the past few weeks to look at children’s progress and achievements. On the whole it has been really pleasing – with children making good gains, especially in Reading, Writing and Maths.
It is becoming more apparent to me the impact that lateness and absence from school is having. Children who should have reached the expected standard are more likely to fall behind if their attendance is lower than 90% or they are repeatedly late.
Reports for children will be sent home today, Monday 22nd July. Year 6 SATs results will be included as usual with their school reports.
Let’s hope we have a sunny, “run in” to the end of term.
Sports Days 2024
Well done to all the children for giving their all in our alternative sports days. All classes managed so well with last moment changes due to the bad weather and had an excellent time. New records were set and we are pleased to announce the winning teams in Year 3 – Year 5 as:
Year 3: 1st place White Team, 2nd place Green Team and 3rd place Red Team
Year 4: 1st place Azure Class, with both Cobalt and Turquoise coming in joint 2nd place
Year 5: Our closest call with Violet Class winning against Lavender Class by just 2 points!
We would like to thank Mr Gibbs and Mr Djavit for all their planning and running the activities!
Keep an eye out for texts from the office next week with links to more photos from your child’s year group.
School Council

School Council have been planning our Day of Play. We will be holding our Day of Play on Monday 22nd July. Playgrounds will be set up in different ways and children will have an additional playtime playing in a play space which they wouldn’t normally play in. We have now received the funding from International Day of Play and School Council have decided how we would spend the money. We have purchased kits for den building, water play equipment, large construction equipment and play boxes including balls, bean bags, skipping ropes.
Look out for posts on the schools social media on Monday celebrating the KG Day of Play activities!Year 6 Enterprise
Year 6 has been buzzing with excitement this week as they worked on their Enterprise project! Our young entrepreneurs have designed and created a fantastic array of products to raise funds for their much-anticipated Leavers’ Prom. From key chains, bracelets, and bookmarks to sweet cones and healthy snacks, there’s something for everyone, all priced under £2.00! Brass class had an amazing success, selling out their products on Thursday and Friday after school. Don’t miss your chance to support Bronze and Copper classes today after school in the Main Playground. Come and grab some great deals while supporting our talented Year 6 students!
Lost Property
This helps us to return any lost and found items quickly to their rightful owner/s.
Unnamed lost property will be displayed by the pod in the main playground from 8.30 am – 8.45 am and again at 3.15 pm – 3.30 pm on a regular basis. All unclaimed items will be sent to the local charity shop to benefit our wider school community.
Pre-loved school uniform is also available from Kids Support Tree – in addition to our official school uniform provider Wearabouts in Sydenham.Achievements

Congratulations to Duy Anh in Year 3, who has been named one the best 5 tennis players in Kent County team and to his team who have won the National Champion April 2024 for 9U!! Duy Anh is an enthusiastic and superb tennis player.
He also plays Junior National tour and has won the award “Variation King”, this award recognises the player’s ability to vary their shots. It highlights their creativity and versatility in hitting with different speeds, spins and heights to keep their opponents guessing and forcing them off balance.
Congratulations again Duy Anh, everyone at KG is so proud of your achievements!

The Great KG Bake Off!

Thank you to all the children who baked and decorated such wonderful, fruity and fabulous cakes for the Great KG Bake Off 2024! We were blown away by all the cakes and it was incredibly hard to make a decision for the winner. Thank you also to all the parents and carers for helping and lending their expertise to our young bakers. The winner of our KG Bake Off this year is … Iris (Year 3 Mint). Huge congratulations Iris!!
And well done to everyone for raising a whopping £292.00 and we will use the money to do even more baking in school.
Attendance

Congratulations to Y2 Saffron and Y2 Ochre for the highest attendance at 95.5%, closely followed by Y5 Lavender at 95.4%.

Let’s see if we can beat this next year with even higher attendance %!

The KG Circle
Thank you to all of you who attended the Summer Fair on Friday. It was great to see the school community out in the summer sun. We raised over £2,500 for The KG Circle which will be utilised to improve the school playground. We really appreciate all the support we received from local businesses, parents and teachers. Remember, if you would like to see a wider range of activities at these events, we require more hands to help – none of this can happen without volunteers.
Congratulations to Mya in Year 6 Copper who has won the Thank You Card competition and her design will be used to thank all local businesses who supported the Summer Fair.
That’s all from us for this term, but you can still continue to support The KG Circle via easyfundraising over the summer.
