Headteacher's Message
There are three weeks left of this school year and it’s a good time for us all to reflect and celebrate all that is good, and know how we might do somethings better next year.
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our summer fair last week. I thank you all for coming along and making it such a success, and special thanks to the Friends of KG committee who put so much hard work into making it all happen.
Community is so important to us here at Kelvin Grove. Children and families who attend our school, the staff and those who live and work in the local area.
Conduct of children and indeed adults when they are on their way to and from school is really important – it models for younger children what is expected and reflects who we are. Please do not smoke around the school gates, lean on walls or cars parked in the streets in the area. Please ensure young children are supervised closely and older children behave safely and sensibly with good manners.
If you trust your child to walk to and from school on their own, please recognise that the school still expects the very best behaviour from them.
I hope to see you all at our Sports Days in the week of 11th July. Lastly, don’t forget tomorrow is our Jubilee Bank Holiday day and the school is closed! Wishing you all a great long weekend.
Sports Days
This year, Reception sports days will be held at school. Year 1 – Year 6 sports days will be held at Wells Park.
The dates are in our school calendar and the following letter: Sports Days.
The children will be in colour teams for sports day: red, yellow, green and blue. Class teachers will let children know which colour team they are in.
All parents are very welcome to come along and watch sports day. It will be great to enjoy the day together again after such a long time.
Take One Artist
We were delighted to see the children’s Take One Artist work on display at the KG Summer Fair.
They have been learning about a Japanese artist called Yayoi Kusama who makes lots of different paintings, sculptures and installations using polka dots! The children have explored her ideas and influences, and created sketch book pages all about her and her works as well as re-creating small sketches using polka dots and their very own clay sculptures in the style of Yayoi Kusama! You can see some here:
SIMS Parent
Just a reminder to all parents and carers to register with SIMS Parent where you can access your child’s records and make any necessary changes as and when you need to; even if you don’t need to any make changes we would greatly appreciate it if you could please still double check the details we have on record for you child and confirm that no changes need to be made.
Thank you to all those parents and carers that have already registered with SIMS Parent and have updated changes on their child’s records. If you need help, you can read the instructions here: INSTRUCTIONS or contact Neisha in the school office.
