Year 1 had a lovely trip to the Horniman Gardens this week. The visit was to support and use their geographical knowledge of London to name some key landmarks. In our geography lessons Apricot class have been learning key vocabulary for physical and human features. It was great to find that many pupils used these terms when observing the London skyline.
We also used the visit to support their art skills to draw from observation. The class really looked at the shapes and shadows of the buildings and thought about size and scale.
It would not have been fair to leave the park without a quick play in the beautiful green space but even that turned into learning, with many children naming plants and flowers from our previous topic of learning in ‘Let’s Grow’.
A great mid term trip and we’re already looking forward to the next one…….
