Headteacher's Message
Discussions with children around war and conflict sometimes feel difficult but necessary. You can’t turn on the news and not be deeply affected by the suffering in the Middle East at the moment.
Remembrance Day is a time when we are all asked to reflect and remember all those lives given in wars fighting for freedom and democracy.
As well as supporting the Poppy Appeal, we will be collecting money for Save the Children UK Gaza Emergency Appeal. Christmas Jumper Day donations will be added to this.
Thank you for your support.
Last week we discussed with children the importance of light and hope and across many celebrations and religions. It was Diwali, the festival of light, this weekend and we hope all our families who celebrated it had a wonderful weekend. Key to any discussions with children about conflict and suffering is the idea of hope for resolution and peace.
Sadly at the beginning of this term, we said goodbye to Helen Heavey who has been at the heart of KG and our office. After 16 years of service she has decided to retire. I pass on the thanks of the whole community for her service and wish her a long and happy retirement. She is part of the local community and will still be popping in and out of school.
Topic Launch Trips!

Year 4 have had wonderful visits to Surrey Dock Farms learning about how animals are cared for and where our food comes from. It was an eye opening experience and especially fun feeding the animals!
Year 6 had a blast visiting Queen Mary University’s Centre of the Cell to launch their science driven topic this term ‘Pump It Up!’ The children were able to play interactive games about cell biology, many of them based on the research from Queen Mary’s own scientists working in the laboratories below the STEM Pod. It was amazing to meet one of the scientists and see their labs as we walked through the building. Read more about their visit here!
Odd Socks Day!

Friday 17th November we will be Odd Socks day at KG in support of Anti-Bullying Week.
The idea behind Odd Socks Day is that it’s not bad to stand out, and kids can be proud of their uniqueness and differences.
Year 3 Choir
The children in choir have been working on their performance skills alongside their singing. Check out their spooky rendition of Haunted Houses!
