Headteacher's Message
The first half of the Summer Term is always a busy one. With Year 6 SATs taking place and all year groups working towards key milestones, there is a strong focus on ensuring every child is supported to achieve their best.
With this in mind, attendance remains a key priority. Currently, our whole-school attendance sits just over 2 percentage points below our target of 95%.
Reception | 92.9 % |
Year 1 | 92.4 % |
Year 2 | 93.8 % |
Year 3 | 92.2 % |
Year 4 | 93.7 % |
Year 5 | 92.6 % |
Year 6 | 93.1 % |
Every day in school makes a difference, and we ask for your continued support in ensuring children attend regularly unless they are genuinely unwell. Please remember to inform the school office of any absence, as without this we are unable to authorise it.
We are also continuing to see concerns around traffic at the start and end of the school day, particularly on Dallas Road. The congestion creates an unsafe environment for our children and families. With the improved weather, we encourage you to walk where possible, or, if driving is necessary, to park a short distance away from the school and walk the final part of your journey.
A reminder that next Thursday, 7th May, the offsite classes on Kelvin Grove will be used as a polling station. The school will remain open as usual, with the exception of parts of Sunshine Class and Orchid Class, who have already been informed.
We hope you enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend and look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday 5th May.
Tesco Stronger Starts
We’re excited to share that Kelvin Grove Primary School has been selected for the Tesco Stronger Starts Grants Programme! This means we have the chance to receive funding of up to £1,500 to support our pupils, but we need your help.
When shopping at Tesco, please collect a blue token at checkout and vote for our project in-store. The more votes we receive, the more funding we can secure to benefit our school community.

We’re looking for suggestions of all kinds, favourite novels, popular series, graphic novels, comics, and more!
Please take a moment to complete a book recommendation and share your ideas with us.
Thank you for helping us inspire a love of reading! 📖
Fourth Plinth Winner

A huge congratulations to Matilda in Year 6, who has once again been recognised in the prestigious Fourth Plinth Schools Awards 2026! This is an incredible achievement, especially as it marks her second success in the competition—her first winning entry came when she was in Year 2.
We are incredibly proud of Matilda’s creativity and dedication. Today, she attended the awards ceremony at City Hall, where winning designs are celebrated and showcased. The Fourth Plinth Schools Awards invite pupils across London to design imaginative artworks inspired by the famous Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, encouraging young people to engage with public art in a meaningful and creative way.
Matilda won for her wonderfully inclusive design, ‘Tea Brings Us Together’
You can explore all of this year’s entries, including the winning designs, in the official gallery here:

Lego Donations
We’re looking for donations of LEGO to support our SEND resources and provide more creative play opportunities during breaktimes. If you have any spare bricks or complete sets at home that are no longer being used, we would greatly appreciate your contribution. LEGO is a fantastic tool for encouraging creativity, fine motor skills, and collaborative play among our pupils.
Donations can be dropped off at the school office, thank you for your support!
