In Rising Stars, the children in school and at home have been learning about The Great Fire of London. We have read a story about Boxton the rat and his friend Vlad who was a flea! The children have made their own versions of the story and told their stories using finger puppets that they made. The children in school have made a fantastic display of a street scene during the fire. The children at home have been drawing some amazing fire engines! We also learnt a fire poem by Jackie Kay off by heart.
In Science we have been learning about materials and their properties. The children in school sorted materials into groups and the children at home investigated different types of materials they could find in different rooms of their house!
This term in Gold Stars, the children have been learning about Ancient Egypt in History and Forces in Science. As part of their learning of Ancient Egypt, the children in class and at home have been learning how to write their name in Hieroglyphics. The children worked really hard to imitate the Egyptian alphabet to create their name. Below are a few examples of their work. We are very proud of all their hard work in completing these!
In English, the children have been reading the book: Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx and have worked really hard to understand the text they are reading. Below is an example of a pupil answering questions about the book. In Science, the children have been learning about how things move in relation to gravity and friction. As part of their learning, they completed an experiment on which materials give the least amount of friction, so a marble can travel the quickest/furthest.
All the adults in Rising Stars and Gold Stars are very proud of all the children’s work so far this half term. Well done!
