The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is an organisation to help the school raise funds. Parents work together with staff to raise money for the school, and generally support the school’s efforts towards a shared goal. The PTA is not an elite organisation but simply parents giving up their time and expertise (for free) for the benefit of all the 640 children at Kelvin Grove.
The main role of the PTA is to build strong working relationships among parents, teachers and schools, in support of students. So every time you go to a fair, a quiz night or buy a cake at a cake sale you are supporting the school and benefiting your children directly.
Every year the PTA holds an AGM (Annual General Meeting), a yearly meeting for all members of the association. The year’s events are reported on where all committee members stand down or seek re-election. All parents are invited to attend the AGM meeting and any parent can put themselves forward to play a role on the PTA committee as long as their nomination is supported.
The Kelvin Grove PTA was formed in February 2016 and decided to focus their fundraising efforts on the playgrounds (and a few other things). In the last 3 years have already made quite a difference and we continue to do so.
Our next focus is to improve air quality for our children. Now that the school has lovely new fencing around Paxton (the fence facing Kirkdale) the focus for the next stage of the playground, in conjunction with the school and the school council is planting around the school.
Please take a look at what we have already accomplished.
