Indigo class have returned to school with great aplomb and vigour! It has been so lovely to have the children back in school, there has been a great buzz of excitement in catching up with friends and comparing how much we’ve grown! We have not wasted anytime getting stuck back in with our learning and we are building great knowledge around our topic ‘Guardians of the Planet’.
Our English focus has been on describing the Amazonian rainforest using engaging descriptions and a variety of sentence openers. This we did so with flair and confidence, developing our use of rainforest related vocabulary. Now, we’ve moved on to looking at persuasive letters to protect the rainforests. This has been an emotive subject for us and we have all shared our own concerns and knowledge of what is necessary to protect our planet.
For PSHCE we have been discussing how as individuals we need to make healthy lifestyle choices. We have looked at the dangers of smoking and misuse of alcohol on our health. We have considered the impact of peer pressure and have also discussed the importance of staying calm and having an awareness of strategies to help in an emergency situation.
In science we are studying living things and so far, we have compared the life cycles of both flowering and non-flowering plants. We all took great care to produce detailed drawings of a life cycle of a non-flowering plant. Next, we will move on to comparing the life cycles of different types of animals. It will be a busy few weeks until the end of term!
