What a great start to the new half term. The children in Cerise class have been very excited about our new topic ‘Superheroes’. We have been reading ‘Supertato’ which is a story about a super hero potato who saves the day and defeats the Evil Pea. We have been learning the story, using time adverbs and creating out own story maps. Next week, we will be creating our own version of the story.
We have been exploring the skill of colouring mixing and learning all about how to create textures. We have discussed what a primary colour is and how to create different textures. We used lots of different resources such as flour, sugar and sand to mix colours with. These created different textures such as slimy, gritty and soft paint. We have mixed colours to paint different vegetables and then used the vegetables to print. We found that broccoli makes bumpy rough textures and potatoes create a smooth texture.
Maths has been great fun this week as we are learning how to double. We have used our number knowledge to double numbers to 10, 20 and some of us are doubling to 100! We have been making double ladybirds and writing number sentences to match.
