The children have made a super start to their time in Saffron Class. They quickly settled into their routines and are working really hard. Our topic this term is ‘Pole to Pole’. Over the next three weeks our English work will be based on the book, ‘The Great Explorer’ by Chris Judge. On Monday the children packed a rucksack, with some essentials for the trip, and explored the school and the school grounds. They made numerous exciting discoveries!
In maths we have been learning about place value. The children have been identifying the number of tens and ones within numbers up to 50 and comparing them, using the ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’ symbols.
Next Friday we are off to the Horniman Museum to experience a workshop all about the Inuit and discover what it’s like to live in the Arctic. We also hope to see the walrus and other animals from the Arctic region.
We have been studying the work of the artist, Ted Harrison and have produced our own beautiful landscapes using pastels.
