This half term we have begun reading the book ‘Biscuit Bear’ by Mini Grey. To launch our book, we followed recipes to make our own very own biscuit bears. Overnight, some of the biscuits came to life in Coral class and created a circus. They made quite a big mess. We wrote letters to Mr Hyde to explain what had happened. We also completed a book talk where we discussed our likes, dislikes and shared our opinions about different parts of the book.
In Maths, we have continued to look at numbers within ten and to reinforce our number knowledge. We have been using part part whole models, tens frames and counting beads to help us with this. We have explored all the different ways which a single number can be made. We have been using the language of ‘x’ is my whole, ‘x’ and ‘x’ are my parts. We have also introduced having the whole and one of the parts and the children need to use their number knowledge to find the missing part. We have continued to develop our Maths fluency daily, counting forwards and backwards in ones to twenty and finding one more and one less of a number within 20.
This half term, our topic is ‘Toys R Us’. We will be exploring the history of toys, talking about our favourite toys and looking at the different materials which toys are made of.
