EXPLORING BEGINS IN CORAL CLASS!
What a start we have had to the new half term with the launch of our new topic ‘Extraordinary Explorers’. The children enjoyed an external workshop where they pretended to be explorers on a jungle safari.

In Maths, the children have been super excited about doubling and halving. They will also be learning their ‘teen’ numbers this half term and will be using their learnt skills of addition and subtraction to solve problems within 20.
During English, the children looked at a poem called ‘A Garden’ by Leila Berg where they looked at the stanzas and identified features of poetry. They discussed their likes and dislikes about the poem before they learnt it to recite it to the rest of the class by putting in their own actions.

They then used the poem to create their own versions of ‘A Garden’. Here are a few of our awesome poems.

This week is ‘World Book Week’ and in Coral class we will be tackling a different diverse text each day which represents our school community. We read ‘Clean Up’ by Nathan Bryon on Monday and created our own posters on how to save the planet!

On Tuesday, we read ‘Coming to England’ by Floella Benjamin and looked at our own personal dreams, goals and desires. We shared our dreams with the rest of the class.
