This half term in Jade Class we have been learning all about the Ancient Greeks and what we can thank them for in our lives today. We have learnt about the origins of the Olympic Games and compared these to the modern day Olympic Games.
In English, we are busy writing a report about the appearance, habitat and interesting facts about three mythical beasts known as Cyclops, Medusa and the Minotaur.
In science, we have been learning about how different habitats provide for the basic needs of animals and plants and how they depend on each other. We then enjoyed making mini 3D models of suitable habitats for different animals and plants. Then we went on to explore micro-habitats around our school grounds and found lots of interesting creatures living under logs and bricks and even in the compost bin such as woodlice, centipedes and spiders!
In maths, we have been learning to measure length accurately using mm, cm and m.
Our focus in art this half term has been printing. We are using this skill to create an Ancient Greek plate with geometric patterns and a central image of a mythical beast.
