What a great two weeks Cerise class have had exploring their new topic ‘Yucky Worms’. We have been finding out interesting facts and information about worms. What they look like, where they live and what special features they have. At the end of the week we will have to decide if we think worms are yucky or wonderful. We will share our fact files with each other to help us make our final decision.
In maths we have been exploring simple and complex patterns. We have practised saying the pattern, finishing a pattern and creating our own patterns. We used paints, toys and our voices to create our patterns. We also looked for different patterns in nature and spotted some in our playground with the flowers and leaves.
We used our creative skills to create our own sculptures and small worlds. We used different techniques such as folding, twisting, bending and crimping to create different textures. Some of us decided to make our own ‘Hot Wheels’ tracks for our cars.
We had some new visitors come into our class last week. Tadpoles! We have been learning about the life cycle of different animals including frogs. Miss Potts brought in some frogs spawn from her pond and we are now looking after them until they are ready to be released back into the pond. We have been learning how to look after them and made some signs to make sure everyone understood that we do not touch them. They seem to really like eating lettuce.
