This week in English, we began writing our adventure myth, ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’. Today, we wrote sentences using adverbs to explain when and how Arthur travelled across the sea. We are really looking forward to writing the dialogue between Thor and Arthur because we can use different voices to test out our ideas.
In Mrs Cooper’s maths group, we have been learning about equivalent fractions, adding fractions and subtracting fractions. More recently, we have begun working out fractions of amounts using bar models and division. Fraction questions can be tricky but fun too and it’s very satisfying when you get the answer right!
In computing, we have been learning about computational thinking. We have been breaking down tasks to help us explain them and discovered that learning a complicated dance is much easier when you break it down! Why were we dancing in computing? Well, it helped us to understand that when you are designing an algorithm, you need to break the task down into parts and think about the order of things. This knowledge was very useful when we used the online program ‘Scratch’ to design and test algorithms for drawing shapes.
