Year 3 visited the Black Cultural Archives this week. We met Mrs Johnston who sent us on an archive hunt to answer questions linked to the Windrush voyages. We also handled real objects, including a 1950s bus ticket machine that was worn by bus conductors and a typewriter and learnt about the jobs the people on Windrush took when they were asked to come over, after the Second World War. We have also been learning the poem ‘Windrush Child’ off by heart and adding actions to add to our performance. We were able to share our poem is assembly this week.
In Maths, we have been learning to find fractions of amounts and recapping on the learning that we have completed this year.
In Science, we conducted an experiment to find the best materials to make a skate park. We found that baking paper produced less friction than aluminium foil! No one predicted that.
In PSHCE, we looked at images of baby animals, including humans and their parents and discussed how these made us feel.
