Cerise has had a wonderful start to the week, especially as we have been sharing and discussing photos we brought in of our families, and people who are special to us! We’ve loved getting to learn all about each other in our English carpet sessions. We’ve made our own portraits using loose parts, and used our new phonics sounds to begin to write down our ideas; we’ve used our small world area to act out what it is like where we live, and we’ve written cards to people we love.
In Maths we’ve started exploring numbers to 4, looking at ways to make numbers using cubes and learning how to correctly form numbers in sand, glitter, on whiteboards and using paint!
Our Topic, based on ‘Anna Hibiscus’ Song’ our class story, led us to explore Africa where Anna is from. We first looked at understanding where we live and then began to discuss what life in some African countries might be like. We are very lucky that Mrs Alle treated us to some home cooked plantain and jollof rice! We really enjoyed tasting some traditional Nigerian food.
