What a fantastic first half term Orchid Class have had. We’ve been busy counting, learning our sounds in Phonics, making friends and learning our school routine.
This half term, we have read lots of exciting texts for our English lessons including ‘Anna Hibiscus’ Song’ where we learnt about Africa. We tasted African food- plantain, jollof rice and mangoes and talked about families. This week we have read ‘I Will Never Ever Not Eat A Tomato’ and we have had a fun time tasting different foods and talking about our likes and dislikes. We’ve also looked at past and present and spoken about how our likes and dislikes of food have changed since we were babies.
In Maths, we have been exploring our early Maths skills and looking at numbers to 5. We’ve used five frames to help us with our counting. We’ve used 1:1 correspondence to find out how many we have altogether and we’ve begun to subitise. We are becoming number experts!
