This week, Violet Class have had the pleasure of meeting Michael Morpurgo at the National Theatre. He spoke to us all about his inspiration for writing the ‘War Horse’ and he even told us how long it took him to write it – about 6 months! He is a wonderful author and we are all very grateful that we had the opportunity to meet him and hear his great sense of humour.
In Art, Violet Class have created some fantastic self-portraits and have used inspiration from various artists such as Christabel Blackburn, Kehinde Wiley, Alice X. Zang and Phil Noto. Their portraits are very impressive!
In English, we have been reading our new text ‘The Village that Vanished’ and have been thinking about the meaning of courage and sacrifice. It coincides with our topic this term – ‘Into Africa’. We have been learning all about the transatlantic slave trade and the impact that this had on the continent of Africa.
