What a great first week back in school especially as we have started our new topic ‘We are explorers!’ The children have been broadening their understanding of the world and developing their comparing and investigation skills. We have loved reading our new story ‘My Two Grannies’ which has allowed us to discuss our own grannies and where they are from. This week we have explored the United Kingdom and discussed traditional British dancing, food and weather! It was been great to see everyone using their increasing phonics knowledge to write down their ideas.
In Maths we have become 3D shape explorers. We have been on 3D shape hunts around the school and used our key vocabulary to describe the properties of each shape. We had so much fun investigating the similarities and differences of each shape by testing if they will roll or stack.
Our Topic, has sparked the children’s imagination into what it would be like to become an explorer. They dressed up and created items they might need on their adventures. We have made binoculars, compasses, maps and our very own passports which will be stamped as we visit each country.
