Dear Parents/Carers,
At Kelvin Grove we want to celebrate and embed a culture of reading for pleasure – centred around our love of great books and the enjoyment that we get from them. We are excited to welcome Eddie Burnett back to visit our school. Eddie is a children’s book consultant and the company director of Jubilee Books.He has visited us before, reading to and inspiring our children.
As part of his visit, Eddie is going to run sessions for parents, focusing on reading for pleasure. During the sessions, he will talk about his experience of trying to encourage his own children to read and to develop a love of books. You are invited to attend one of the sessions with Eddie and should leave inspired and full of information to use when reading at home. After the session, you will the get the opportunity to browse some wonderful books alongside Eddie, who will be able to guide your choices should you wish to buy any.
After school, there will be the opportunity for you to come along with your child/ren to buy any of the books that are available. If you receive free school meals and come to one of Eddie’s reading sessions, your child will be given a book voucher to spend (up to the value of £10).
Different year groups will be invited in on different days, which will allow Eddie to tailor his sessions to different ages and provide age appropriate books.
