In English, we have been reading ‘When a Dragon Goes to School’ to help us prepare for Year 1. The children have loved making a booklet all about themselves to give to their Year 1 teacher. They have drawn self-portraits, written about what they like about school and what they are looking forward to about Year 1.

In Maths, we have been learning about number bonds to five and ten. The children have enjoyed exploring all the ways to make 5 and 10 through number bond rainbows, making number bond bead bracelets, making number bond pasta necklaces and using Numicon.

In Music, the children have enjoyed playing instruments and learning the song ‘A round of applause for the dinosaurs.’ In PSE we have been looking at changes and how we feel about moving to Year 1. The children have enjoyed visiting the Year 1 classrooms and playground and meeting some of the staff.

In Art and Design we have been making clay dinosaurs. The children looked at dinosaur figures and designed how they would like their dinosaurs to look. They worked hard to manipulate and mould the clay to make their dinosaurs.

Orchid class have had a fantastic year in Reception and we are very proud of our learning and progress this year!
