What a busy, busy term Cerise class are having.
We have been reading ‘My Two Grannie’ by Floella Benjamin in class this week and have been exploring the UK and Trinidad. In this story Alvina has two grannies: Grannie Vero from Trinidad and Grannie Rose from England, her two grannies want to do different things, eat different food, play different games and tell different stories. We have been focusing on life in the UK this week and are very excite for next week when we will be exploring what life is like in Trinidad.
We have joined the whole school in KG’s annual ‘Take One Artist’ project by learning about the abstract artist Helen Frankenthaler. Over the week we have practised the techniques she used to create her art work and explored lots of new ways to paint. We worked together on big rolls of paper, splashing and splattering paint! It was so messy but so much fun. We used different tools to paint with and even used string yesterday to create abstract string paintings. Don’t they look fabulous!
