Five children in Year 5 were given an incredible opportunity to go to London and visit the Foreign Office where they spoke on stage to an audience (including members of parliament!) about human rights. The students were invited to speak at the event to talk about what human rights means to them and why it is important to hear children’s voices when discussing human rights. The school were invited as part of the Human Rights Day event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The school has received such wonderful feedback from the Foreign Office praising Year 5 for speaking with energy and enthusiasm, and also landing incredibly poignant and hard hitting points. We were so impressed and proud of the children who went, a huge congratulations to Betty, Blake, Eloise, Mason and Samuella for their excellent conduct, passion, and eloquent speeches, they were truly fantastic representatives of Kelvin Grove.
