Amber Class have come back refreshed and enthusiastic after the half term break ! We have been really impressed with the children’s maturity and ability to work independently and collaboratively as a group. We have been demonstrating excellent oracy and listening skills, and have become good at talking and taking turns in groups.
In Maths we have been becoming experts at recording complete number sentences when solving addition problems. We have learnt to use the addition and equals signs when writing a number sentence.
We were very excited to start our D.T. projects this week. We learnt what D.T. (Design Technology) actually meant and then we focused on the task of designing and making our own vehicles. We drafted our designs, then re drew these on to squared paper. We have also tested lots of different vehicles to test whether they would roll or slide, and we have explored how the mechanisms enable them to move. Later in the week we worked collaboratively sorting our materials and using lots of different pieces of junk modelling to make a moving vehicle.
Finally in History we have been learning about the differences between toys and games in the past and toys and games in the present. Mr Hyde, Mrs Daniel , Ms Abey and all the team shared with the children their favourite’s from their own childhood.
We also had the chance to look and explore Victorian playground games in our own playground. We liked skipping and hop scotch. We then had to decide which is better ; toys from the past or toys from the present? It’s been an incredibly busy week!
