In maths, Turquoise class have been using our timetables knowledge to help us solve division problems which involve remainders. We have been learning new strategies and using a variety of resources to help us with our thinking, including place value charts and counters.
In English, we have been using the text ‘What a waste’ by Jess French and we are building on from the learning that we have been doing in our whole class reading sessions. The children have been learning about many of the big issues the earth is currently facing such as pollution, deforestation and global warming. The children are finding this learning very interesting and were shocked about some of the facts and statistics about our earth. We are working towards writing a letter to human kind persuading them to look after our planet better.
On Tuesday, Turquoise class was lucky enough to take a class trip to Creekside Discovery Centre at Deptford Creek as we are learning about rivers in Geography. We had a fantastic day learning all about our local rivers, how they have changed over time, the different parts of the river and we even got to look and touch a range of artefacts that were found in the river. Our highlight of the day was putting on our wellies and coats and actually being able to get in the river! It was a fantastic experience which everyone enjoyed. We all wanted to say a huge thank you to the parents and members of staff who came on our trip with us. We couldn’t have done it without you all and we hope you loved it as much as we did.
