What a week we’ve had in Ochre class, it’s been filled to the brim with activities and learning! We started the week completing our amazing sculptures inspired by Charles McGee. We drew patterns and designs with paint before cutting the paper into shaped strips, (our favourite were zig zagged!) and then manipulating it in to different 3D shapes. It was such a fun activity that we all really enjoyed and we all gained valuable skills both in collage and painting.
Then on Tuesday we made delicious healthy snacks. They were so yummy! Absolutely everything was gobbled up from the smashed avocado on oat cakes, to the fruit salad and pancakes.
On Thursday, all of Year 2 went on an adventure into the city of London and visited St. Paul’s Cathedral! We loved walking along the River Thames checking out London’s skyline and walking across the wobbly Millennium Bridge. At St. Paul’s Cathedral we first explored the Crypt where we saw models of what old St. Paul’s looked like before the Great Fire and tombs that had been damaged from the flames. Our friendly guide then took us up to the main hall, which was incredible and so big! It was amazing seeing the altar and all the marbled statues. A highlight for everyone was lying down on the marble floor and looking at the beautiful ceilings in the cathedral, some of them are painted and some are incredible I was particularly impressed by how knowledge all the children had on the Great Fire of London which they used to ask or answer questions both in the Cathedral and during the walk to the Monument and through the city.
They were so well behaved a member of the public even stopped Ms Dolerious to say how wonderful and well behaved we were.
