We’ve had an exciting and busy time in Saffron class. In English we have been writing our version of ‘Vlad and the Great Fire of London’, choosing which precious possessions we would bury to keep them safe from the fire. In maths we have been learning to divide by grouping, and practicing our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We have been learning about the work of the Detroit artist Charles McGee in art, and this week created magnificent 3D paper sculptures from paper showcasing our own various mark making techniques in paint. They look amazing!
Our topic, the Great Fire of London culminated in an amazing trip to St Paul’s cathedral, where Saffron class wowed the staff with both their knowledge on the topic and their wonderful behaviour. We also managed to walk back to the station via Christopher Wren’s memorial to the Great Fire, the Monument and stand on the street where it all started – Pudding Lane. We walked over 12 000 steps that day, crossed over the (wobbly!) Millennium Bridge, saw the Shard and the Golden Hind on our walk, and had an incredible day!
