Turquoise have had a good start to the Summer Term. Our new topic is about the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings and we are enjoying it very much so far. On Friday we were visited by a company called ‘Perform for Schools’. They delivered a drama workshop which developed our understanding of when the Anglo-Saxon and Viking eras took place. We had so much fun!
In our History lesson this week we have been looking at primary and secondary sources and have been studying replica Anglo-Saxon artefacts to help us build a picture of what life was like during the Anglo-Saxon times. Our English lessons have been linked to our topic too and we are really enjoying learning about the story of Beowulf through a short animation. This week we wrote short recounts about the hero Beowulf’s battle with the ruthless monster Grendel. In Maths we are now learning about fractions and are continuing to practise our times tables. We love practicing them online using Times Tables Rockstars – a great website and app that we use both at home and at school.
