This week in Jade Class, we have been learning about the life cycle of a flowering plant. We learnt about the parts of the flower and dissected a flower so we could see the different parts! We also learned about the different ways that seeds are dispersed and how they grow into new plants. In Maths this week we started to learn about measuring length using millimetres, centimetres and metres. We put our measuring skills to the test to see how long our arm spans were. Some of us challenged ourselves to see if we could use all three measurements!
We are enjoying learning poetry this week. We have been learning a kenning poem called ‘Some Other Names for Rain’ by a poet called Kate Wakeling. It is a type of poem that is a riddle that uses noun – verb phrases e.g eyelash rinser. We then had a go at writing our own kenning poems. In computing this half term, we are learning how to send emails with attachments and how to be kind online.
In English we have been working hard on writing our own versions of ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’, we were very excited to share them with Year 5 once we had finished and Lavender Class visited us to hear them!
