Wow! What an incredible day we have had!
We didn’t let the wet weather dampen our enthusiasm or deter us from our second adventure in France. After a lovely breakfast, we prepared our lunches and set off for Mont Saint-Michel. Even though we had been told about the wonderful views, it did not truly prepare us for the magnificent sight! It was such a wonder! We explored all over, taking in the sights and the history. Did you know according to legend, at the beginning of the 8th century, the Archangel Michael appeared to the bishop Aubert in a dream and instructed him to build a sanctuary on the rocky, inhospitable island in his honour. He appeared twice more before the bishop listened and construction began!

We stopped for a break to eat lunch and absorb the views before exploring further. We walked up and down many steep and twisty steps before stopping to check out the shops and pick up some souvenirs!

After this, we headed to Alligator Bay to see… you guessed it, alligators! There were lots of interesting reptiles to see and we even saw one of the larger Iguanas feeding. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the different enclosures and it was cool to see so many alligators up close – did you know there are only 40 Albino Alligators in the world! We saw one today, calmly floating in the water.

In between the enclosures we had time for a break to play. Climbing was a bit slippery but we still had lots of fun.

After our busy day, we went back to the chateau for a hearty dinner and then had our evening activity. We played Protect the Egg: we worked in teams to design and create a structure that would work to protect our egg from being dropped. The most exciting part was of course, testing out our designs.
We’re excited for our market assignment in Bayeux Wednesday morning, where we’ll be speaking French and shopping for our lunch!
Bonne nuit!
