What an exciting Term! The children in Rainbow class put on their diving gear and went under the sea to learn about Sea Animals. We discussed what creatures live under the sea and learned some under-the-sea facts. Did you know that a group of fish is called a school? The children had fun making fish puppets out of hand prints. We also, made jellyfish using cupcake cases and tissue paper. It has been lovely to see the children’s creations.
During our English lessons, we have been very busy enjoying activities inspired by The Rainbow Fish story book.
The Rainbow Fish emphasises the importance of sharing and how good it feels to be kind and giving. When the Rainbow Fish (the most beautiful fish in the sea) doesn’t share that he feels sad and lonely, he starts to lose his friends but things turn around when he decides to start sharing. The Rainbow Fish makes friends again and he doesn’t feel lonely anymore. Our class team set up scenes from The Rainbow Fish in lessons and children have been describing different parts from it. They have been creating their own fish using different collage materials, discussing how the characters may feel in the story and they have been writing describing words about the Rainbow Fish and his friends.
Time to swim back to shore, thank you, sea creatures, for all the fun facts and activities! Now that was a great term, we can’t wait to see what this last one has lined up for us!
