Year 5 ventured out on a local walk through Sydenham and Penge this week finishing up their art project from last term. They have been investigating the fine lines between graffiti and street art, and what turns graffiti into art. It’s been an interesting debate, answering our topic question ‘Is it a crime or is it art?’
The answer is, sometimes both!

Whilst exploring we found so many artworks, it was great to see art we had looked at in class by Fat Cap Sprays and Aspire Artwork. We stopped twice along our route to sketch and document the works we had seen.

Both classes were lucky with lovely sunny weather which meant they also got to do some urban sketching! See their class news for more photos.
