Parent Governor Statement

Child’s Name: Alex and Lucas Strom (Azure and Turquoise class)

I am seeking re-election as a parent governor. I am a parent to Alex and Lucas, they are in year 4 and having a great time at Kelvin Grove. The past 4 years as a governor has made aware of the multitude of issues the school faces as well as the challenges faced by our children and I would love to continue helping the school.

My experience of Kelvin Grove has so far been excellent I have enjoyed my time as a governor and I wish to continue my role.  I am the Vice Chair of the governors and I am the chair for the PPC sub-committee. I have been working with the school on their EYFS (Early years foundation stage), Diversity and Inclusion and our Pupil Premium strategy with along other governors.

Having now lived locally, near Wells Park, for 14 years, I know and care about our local community and I want to continue be involved. For much of that time I have worked with local kids as an assistant Scout Leader so I have an understanding of how difficult it can be to teach or even to just get kids to pay attention.

A positive educational experience is a major key to being successful in life and I would like to play my part in supporting our kids at Kelvin Grove as a Parent Governor.
