Year 6 have been exploring the fascinating world of Automata Toys, learning all about the mechanisms that make them move! In line with our Japan topic, we discovered a traditional Japanese form of paper automata called Karakuri—and it’s trickier than it looks!
Once we started looking inside these clever paper creations, we realised just how intricate and precise the mechanisms need to be. This week, we put our skills to the test by making a floating dragonfly, and next week, we’ll be crafting a flying seagull!
It’s been great fun experimenting with these designs, and we can’t wait to see what else we can create! 🏮🦗✂️
