Following on from our trip to the Centre of the Cell and our blood composition work, Year 6 took their scientific enquiry to the next level this week with a heart dissection!
We used lamb hearts to closely examine the structure of this vital organ. It was incredible to hold a real heart and identify the key parts we’ve been learning about in our diagrams, such as the atria, ventricles, and the aorta. We could even see the ‘heart strings’ that anchor the valves! Although some of us were a little nervous at first, we all got involved and found it fascinating to see exactly how the heart pumps blood around the body.
