Following on from our walk identifying traces of the Blitz in Sydenham, Year 5 was incredibly privileged to welcome Bill to the classroom today!
Bill is a lifelong local resident of Sydenham and, excitingly, a former pupil of our very own primary school! He generously shared his personal memories and experiences of living in the area during World War II.
Hearing a first-hand account from someone who saw the events unfold on the very streets we walked last week brought our history lessons to life in a powerful and meaningful way. Bill’s visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the children to connect their studies with the human experience, giving them a true sense of what life was like during the war.
A huge thank you to Bill for giving us such a memorable and inspiring ‘living history’ lesson!
