After a hearty breakfast, we split into our day groups to take on today’s farm tasks, getting stuck into horse care, gardening, and cooking lunch!
Group 1 had a brilliant time with the horses, brushing out their coats and learning why it’s so important. Brushing helps to remove dirt and loose hair, and keeps the horse’s coat healthy and shiny, plus, it’s a great way to bond with them!
Group 3 were down in the gardens, harvesting crops and trying something completely new; French sorrel leaf! It’s very different from the sorrel we’re used to, and a completely new taste for some of us.
Group 2 were in the kitchen preparing handmade pizzas for lunch. After all the hard work, we were thrilled to sit down and enjoy them. Of course, they were delicious! Group 2 did an excellent job using fresh ingredients from the farm, including dough they had prepared themselves.
After lunch, we had some free time and it was so much fun having all the outdoor space to ourselves to run and play.
This afternoon’s activities include new farm tasks, a visit to the Spinney for forest school activities, and a night walk after dinner. We are very, very excited!
